Harrison Burrows has transferred playing status amid medical discussions for a Coventry City-linked player

Coventry City’s chances of signing Harrison Burrows from Peterborough United appear to be fading as speculation linking him with a move to Sheffield United intensifies.

The Sky Blues have been reported to be keen on the 22-year-old Posh left-back and captain since Doug King completed his £4.25m deal to buy Ephron Mason-Clark in January, when in which his opposite number at the London Road club. , Darragh MacAnthony, has revealed that City are interested in a number of Peterborough players.

In his podcast, The Hard Truth, the outspoken president offered a fascinating insight into the negotiation process between him and King, the city’s owner, in Mason-Clark’s “relentless” pursuit. The 47-year-old Irish entrepreneur said: “Doug has asked for an option on one of my other players as well because they like a lot of our players.”

Another possible target for the Sky Blues is defensive midfielder Hector Kyprianou, who was the subject of a rejected bid for his services from another Championship club in January.

Peterborough Telegraph football writer Alan Swann recently said: “Coventry are known to have a ‘first option’ for a Posh player this summer and the smart money is on it being Kyprianou or Burrows.”

United have remained silent on the matter and refused to comment on speculation this week linking Burrows with an imminent move to Championship side Sheffield United.
