Rogue roofer named after admitting fraud charges including ‘bent roof’

A rogue roofer has pleaded guilty to a series of fraud offenses in Warwickshire. It comes after Warwickshire County Council Trading Standards launched an investigation into roofer Louis William Gaskin.

The 20-year-old, of Windmill Lane, Balsall Common, pleaded guilty to three offenses under the Fraud Act 2006. He traded as Pitch Roofing Ltd, based at The Crescent in Spalding, Lincolnshire.




At Warwick Crown Court on Wednesday, June 12, he admitted the following:

  • Between 24 April 2023 and 28 April 2023, at a lodging house in Kenilworth, he dishonestly made false statements to the householder, with intent to obtain gain for himself or another, that £33,420 it was a fair and proper price for the work that was done for the dwelling house.
  • On or about May 11, 2023, at the lodging house in Kenilworth, dishonestly made false statements to the householder, with intent to obtain gain for himself or another, which the householder he had to pay her a further £9,240 in VAT.
  • On or about 17 May 2023, at a dwelling house in Kenilworth, he made false representations to the householder, with intent to gain for himself, that the weight of the roof was bending and distorting the supports and fascias , which should be replaced at a cost of £18,000 plus VAT.

Gaskin will be sentenced at Warwick Crown Court on August 8. Warwickshire County Councilor Andy Crump, cabinet member for community safety, said: “Rogue traders are being warned that if they operate in Warwickshire, our Trading Standards Service will take action against them to protect residents. .”
