The 21-year-old woman was walking home with a friend before stabbing Ealing, police say

A 21-year-old woman who was stabbed in an Ealing alleyway was walking home with her friend when she was attacked, police said on Monday as they appealed for witnesses.

Ania Jedrkowiak died in the early hours of Tuesday, May 17, after being found with stab wounds in Roberts Alley, near Church Gardens.

Scotland Yard said she had finished work at a restaurant in Ealing and was returning home with a friend when she was attacked.

Detectives on the case, Operation Wayfront, believe there may be more witnesses who have yet to come forward and will revisit the area on Monday to speak to local residents.

Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, the senior investigating officer, said: “Ania’s life was taken in the most tragic of circumstances and her family are understandably completely devastated by what has happened.

“My detective team has already made significant progress, however I believe there may be people with information we have not yet spoken to and I am keen to speak to them as soon as possible.”

An autopsy performed following Ms. Jedrkowiak’s death confirmed the cause as multiple stab wounds.

Dennis Akpomedaye, 29, was charged with the student’s murder last Wednesday and appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, where he was remanded in custody.

The University of West London was among those to pay tribute to the Polish national following his tragic death.

“Ania was very dedicated to her studies and touched the hearts of many people during her time at UWL,” the institution said in a statement.
