TK Maxx and Homesense are urgently recalling tea which has been found to have insects in it

TK Maxx and Homesense are urgently recalling selected batches of tea products that are infested with insects. Certain batches of Kintra Foods premium organic loose leaf teas have been contaminated with these insects, making them unsafe for consumption.

There were three types of Kintra Foods premium organic loose leaf teas that were contaminated – ‘Calm & Relax’, ‘Chamomile’ and ‘Sleepy’. They were on sale between April 2024 and June 2024.

The Calm & Relax aroma was hit the hardest. Their 60g packs were found to have insects in lot codes 6057, 6071, 6118, 6126 and 6207.

Sleepy flavor was the next worst, with two batches of the 40g packs contaminated. The lot codes for these are 6058, 6102 and 6125.

Finally, the 40 g packets of chamomile were also marked for insect contamination. The lot codes in question are 5887 and 6111.

One of the following product codes will be printed on your price tag and receipt if you purchased one of these unsafe lots – 588071, 588077, 588093, 645328, 645336, 645338.

If you find that you have purchased one of these Kintra Foods Organic Premium Leaf Teas and the lot number matches one of them, stop using it immediately and do not consume the tea. The government-run Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued recall and recall notices to inform shoppers and local authorities. TK Maxx and Homesense said the point-of-sale ads will be displayed in all retail stores that sell these products. These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have purchased the products. Please see the attached notice.
