Who is Yasin Ozcan? Defender Kasimpasa linked with Liverpool transfer

Liverpool are credited with an interest in several potential new signings for the summer transfer window.

The Reds are now officially able to complete transfers ahead of the next Premier League season. It remains to be seen what areas of the team new head coach Arne Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes will look to strengthen this summer.

Center back has been a position Liverpool are rumored to be looking to bring in reinforcements for this summer. Lille star Lenny Yoro is a known target for the Reds, but other players have been linked with a move to Anfield.

Reports in Turkey claim that Kasimpasa starlet Yasin Ozcan is a target for Liverpool. Aslinda reports that the Reds are looking to sign the centre-back this summer, with the article claiming that Liverpool have been monitoring the player “for a long time”.

So what else do we know about the latest Liverpool-linked player?

Ozcan is an 18-year-old Turkish defender who is a product of the Kasimpasa academy. The teenager is predominantly a centre-back, but is also capable of switching to left-back when required.

He was given a Super Lig debut in Turkey in August 2022 when he was just 16 years old at the time. Since then, Ozcan has played 60 times for Kasimpasa, scoring five goals with two assists.

Kasimpasa head coach Sami Ugurlu recently admitted that an unnamed club was expressing interest in signing Ozcan. The Kasimpasa boss explained, however, that there was also interest from other clubs in Europe.

“It would be abnormal if Yasin didn’t get an offer,” Ugurlu told Ajansspor in January this year. “There are serious offers for Yasin from home and abroad. There are clubs chasing Yasin. I can’t name the club now.”
