Chris Davies outlines plan to keep Krystian Bielik and Paik Seung-ho at Birmingham City

Chris Davies is ready to convince Birmingham City’s international stars to play in League One when they return for pre-season.

The Blues have a number of internationals who will attract interest this summer following the club’s relegation from the Championship. Krystian Bielik, Paik Seung-ho and Koji Miyoshi are likely to be in demand.

Bielik joined the Blues two years ago, initially on loan before the transfer was made permanent following Derby County’s relegation to League One. The 26-year-old did not want to spoil his chances of playing for Poland at the 2022 World Cup and looked for a way out.

It’s hard to imagine Bielik earning a recall to the Poland set-up with his third-tier performances. Paik – who has been capped 17 times by South Korea – Japanese winger Miyoshi and Juninho Bacuna are in the same boat. Wales star Jordan James, meanwhile, looks set to leave the Blues this summer.

Davies spoke to Bielik when the midfielder attended the Blues’ training ground in the off-season to treat an injury and plans further talks with his star players when they return for pre-season. He said Birmingham Live: “We’ve had a few conversations but more will happen in the next few weeks when the players come back.

“My message to the players around me is that I’m a symbol of exactly that. I am someone who could be a manager in the Championship now, maybe even bigger who knows, but I chose to come to a club that is going somewhere.
