Arne Slot explains Liverpool’s title feelings in a subtle warning to Arsenal and Man City

New Liverpool boss Arne Slot has sent a stark warning to Manchester City and Arsenal ahead of the 2024/25 season. The Dutchman officially begins life as the Reds’ new head coach on July 1, replacing Jurgen Klopp who enjoyed nine successful years at Anfield.

The Merseysiders were firmly in the title race until their form faded in April and May, eventually finishing third and nine points behind champions City. Arsenal took the title race to the final day but narrowly missed out as Pep Guardiola’s side won their fourth consecutive Premier League title.

“If we do what we have to do, we will be closer and in the end we will win it,” Mikel Arteta said defiantly after the final game of last season. “When? I don’t know. But if we keep hitting and being this close, eventually it will happen.”

Looking ahead to next season, Arsenal will be looking to challenge Man City once again, hoping to win their first Premier League title since 2004. However, they could be better than ever as Slot believes the Liverpool side have what is necessary to go to the end.

“(A) very good team, very good players, they managed to be at the top for a very long time, but I think in the end we would all like to see Liverpool a bit higher than third place and that is the challenge we face. now – to build on what we have,” Slot told Liverpool’s official website. “I have every confidence in that because of the players, that we can add a few things where we can hopefully get a bit more points than 82, which is necessary with the likes of Arsenal and City, to hopefully go a bit higher. than we did this season”.

He added: “There is a change, but the change is hopefully not that big, because we still have the same players, we still have the same fans – and if they both do the same job, it will make my life a lot easier! I expect him to appear again next season and I will also do everything in my interest and in my power to lead the team in the best possible way.
