Leicester City appoint Steve Cooper as manager: Fan views

Now that Steve Cooper is officially Leicester City manager, we’ve asked for your views on the appointment.

Here are some of your comments:

Samuel: I strongly believe Steve Cooper is a perfect choice for Leicester. He has had a great management career and now I am ready for the project.

Kevin: This is the renewal of my subscription on the River Soar. A manager who has lost 14 of his last 15 games? Seriously? This is a real lack of ambition. His Nottingham Forest link doesn’t bother – at this point, some people should grow up. But the fans are not stupid. Staying awake is going to be a HUGE task, unfortunately.

Norman: It is what it is. We are in a mess right now. Hoping that Graham Potter or some other high-quality prospect would come to us was always wishful thinking. That said, Cooper is probably the best option we could hope to get. Forget the Forest link – now it’s all about getting behind the manager, the team and the club.

Leo: This is a joke! The council must go for this appointment. I am so disappointed as a Leicester fan and season ticket holder. It will be hit by the fans and the atmosphere will be toxic from day one! No progress or foresight as a club. Honestly, I’m so mad.

Kevin: This is a reasonable date – I wouldn’t say the best. He should have gone after Potter, but I think he’s holding out for the job in England. But Cooper is and as long as he is supported by the board then I will support the appointment. Either way, it’s going to be a long season with whoever we name. Good luck, Cooper.

Duncan: This is not the best appointment Leicester could have made. Yes, Cooper had Premier League experience, but realistically he had only fought to the very end with Forest. I would have liked to see Leicester be more ambitious and appoint a younger manager from a lower league club. This is the equivalent of appointing Dean Smith.
