“We watched England’s Euro game against Denmark at Boxpark Croydon and as pints flew after our fans were convinced he was going home”

Visited Boxpark Croydon tonight to watch the highly anticipated England vs Denmark Euro match. The venue, which has become synonymous with major sporting events, was full of energy and pints flew with the England goal.

As soon as I arrived, about half an hour before the match, I found supporters already drinking and chanting, eagerly waiting for the national team. I spoke to some fans and they were confident of an England win.

Three fans I spoke to predicted a 2-0 win for England. Karl Grove, 42, said: “I’m very confident because we have a very strong squad. Germany looks good, but I think we win everything.”

Jake du Platel, 18, said: “I’ve got £50 on the line so we’ve got to win the whole tournament!” However, his father Leon du Platel believes France will take the trophy home.

At the start of the match, the fans passionately sang “God Save the King” and booed Denmark’s national anthem, even turning off the television. The atmosphere exploded when Harry Kane scored to give England the lead.

However, the fans were soon cut short when Denmark scored on 34 minutes. Despite this, hope remained high at half-time with 45 minutes to play.

Richie, a fan watching from the Boxpark dugout, said England had not done their best but was confident they would win. He added of Denmark: “They are a good team, they have some good players, but they are not as determined as England.”
