Man charged after violent attack in Penzance

Two men have been arrested following a violent incident in Cornwall last weekend. A local man in his 20s was charged with GBH with intent and another man was arrested on suspicion of assault.

Police arrested Corey Middleton, 23, of Commercial Road, Penzance. He has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent under section 18. Middleton is due to appear at Bodmin Crown Court today (Friday, June 21).



An 18-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and suspected of possessing a Class A controlled drug. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Police have charged a man in relation to an incident in Market Place, Penzance, on Sunday 16 June.

“Cory Middleton, aged 23, of Commercial Road, Penzance, has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent in section 18. He is due to appear at Bodmin Magistrates’ Court on Friday, June 21.

“An 18-year-old man from Penzance has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and suspected of being in possession of a Class A controlled drug. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries.”
