Little girl killed in Coventry dog ​​attack named as family portrait

A little girl who died in a tragic dog attack in Coventry has been named as Elle Doherty. The seven-month-old died after suffering serious head injuries after being bitten by the family dog ​​in Shorncliffe Road.

The dog has since been destroyed. West Midlands Police today confirmed the dog is a Belgian Malinois.




Detectives also confirmed that they had carried out a thorough investigation into what happened and that no crimes had been committed.

Police and paramedics arrived at the scene within two minutes of being called at 3pm on Sunday. Elle was treated at the scene before being rushed to hospital where she sadly died.

The Coventry community rallied to support the family, sharing their well wishes in hundreds of messages on the CoventryLive Facebook page.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “Elle was treated at the scene by paramedics before being rushed to hospital for further treatment. Tragically, she died a short time later. Our thoughts remain with her family during this devastating time.
