Greater Manchester pub shortlisted for Great British Pub Awards 2024

A Greater Manchester pub has been shortlisted for an award at this year’s Great British Pub Awards. The annual event selects venues from up and down the UK and judges them across a number of categories.

After receiving an “incredible” number of entries for this year’s awards, organizers have whittled it down to “the best the nation has to offer”. The awards showcase the exciting variety and quality present in the UK pub scene, with a focus on excellence for pub-goers across the country.




The only Greater Manchester pub to be shortlisted this year is The Crown & Anchor in the Northern Quarter. The venue on the corner of Hilton Street and Port Street has been nominated for the Stonegate Group Pub Partners Pub of the Year category.

The pub is located in the heart of Manchester’s Northern Quarter. Surrounded by a number of restaurants, bars and shops, it has recently undergone a renovation and also houses a hotel in the hysterical building.

Other categories at this year’s awards include Best Pub in Town sponsored by Molson Coors, Best Dog Pub, Best Country Pub, Best Pub for Entertainment and Best Family Pub. There are also awards for best pub produce, beer gardens, sustainability and where to watch sport, among others.

A host of pubs around Greater Manchester also made the final cut. The Swan at Marbury was shortlisted for Best Country Pub, while The Maltings in Warrington was shortlisted for Best Pubs for Dogs.

Meanwhile, The Bull’s Head Holymoorside in Chesterfield is shortlisted for the award for best pub for food, and The Pack Horse in Hayfield will take on The Crown & Anchor for the Pub of the Year gong.
