LETTER: “Government Oversight” Makes Reader Avoid Bradford

Cookstown resident calls speed camera and other similar initiatives to target speeders ‘bad optics’

BradfordToday and InnisfilToday welcome letters to the editor at (email protected) or through the website. Please include your full name, daytime phone number and address (for authorship verification, not for publication). BradfordToday received the following letter from a reader in Cookstown regarding Ontario’s ‘Big Brother’ approach.

I moved to Ontario for school in 1993 and the next year the NDP government brought in photo radar.

Coming from western Canada, the Big Brother approach surprised me. Everyone wants less speed on our streets, but to me speed cameras and other types of government surveillance are bad optics.

Some municipalities such as Bradford insist on this surveillance approach. I now avoid Bradford.
