The Circus With A Purpose, Circus Starr, Coming to Huddersfield

by Joshua Robinson –

Circus Starr is delighted to return to Huddersfield with their inclusive circus-inspired show. This year’s event will be different as it takes place indoors rather than inside them Big Top Tent.

Due to rising costs and logistical challenges, the non-profit is unable to hold the show outdoors this year. However, they are proud to be able to continue their work by making their show accessible indoors, meaning deserving families don’t miss out on the experience.

Unlike a commercial circus, CIC tailors the event to suit its unique audience by turning down the volume, dimming the lights, offering sensory packages and offering free tickets.

Their entire operation is only possible thanks to donations from community-run businesses in the area.

Their 2024 production promises to dazzle vulnerable and disabled children in attendance as it sees the return Mariska Gandey’s ring mistress.

He will be joined on stage by the Brazilian clown, Lukinhaand acrobatic skills from Fingers crossed.

Director of Fundraising Michelle Crossley said: “We love sharing our magical art form with those who usually miss out! I am so happy that we can still share a fabulous show with the community despite the challenges we are currently facing. Many thanks to all the businesses who have helped us continue our valuable work in their city.”

The community interest company relies on donations to run its inclusive events and reach out to local businesses to see if they would like to cover the cost of a child’s ticket. Donations are welcome from anyone who would like to help make a difference.

Performances will be at 4.45pm and 7pm at the Northfield Center on Monday 24th June.
