Chansiri nets Sheffield Wednesday header amid ‘enlightening’ revelation

Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri is due some rare praise for one thing he has done at the club.

After what has been his toughest season as an owner, Chansiri finally seems to be letting his actions do the talking at Sheffield Wednesday.

Recent reports have revealed that the controversial Owls owner is overseeing improvements to the club’s training ground in Middlewood, as well as holding positive talks with Danny Rohl regarding the upcoming summer.

And those talks are said to have included discussions of a possible new deal for Rohl following his miraculous return with Sheffield Wednesday to the Championship.

Rohl’s work in S6 has attracted rival Championship clubs, with both Sunderland and Hull City linked in recent weeks.

But recent news about Rohl’s contract, or more specifically the compensation he needed to award him at Hillsborough, means Chansiri may have some merit.

Danny Rohl compensation at Sheffield Wednesday

The star confirmed developing speculation that any club looking to sign Rohl this summer would have to pay a £5million compensation.

Besides, if any club wanted Rohl and his backroom team at Sheffield Wednesday, should get £10m in compensation.

Rohl is only under contract until the end of the 2024/25 season and despite his impressive work in S6, it seems unlikely that any club will pay the German’s £5m compensation.

But that safety net is there if Rohl do what leave. And now, after seeing how good of a coach Rohl is, Chansiri will not only push for a new deal for Rohl, but will surely introduce another major compensation to protect the club.

Danny Rohl’s new deal could present Sheffield Wednesday with just one problem

Throughout his tenure at Sheffield Wednesday, it seems clear that Rohl was willing to stay, but that he needs reassurance about this summer and the future of ambition.

Mainly, Rohl wants to see Chansiri as ambitious as he is. And so far this summer, we’ve seen Chansiri make plenty of positive moves.

A new contract for Rohl would be a big plus for the Owls. But Rohl, knowing he is a wanted man and there is still a long way to go before Chansiri and Sheffield Wednesday, may not want to have a huge compensation fee hanging over his head.

They would certainly shut him down at Sheffield Wednesday. But then, if the club doesn’t keep moving in the right direction, he wouldn’t be able to jump ship.

So there may need to be a balance and compromise on Chansiri’s part, who may have to ensure that part of Rohl’s contract gives him a way out, should Rohl became unhappy at the club.

But right now, things are certainly looking up for Sheffield Wednesday.
