Tried the Tripadvisor top rated restaurant near the M32

Looking for somewhere to eat in Bristol is a difficult decision, not because of what to eat, but because of how many options there are. Everywhere you look, there is another restaurant or cafe serving a different range of cuisine options.

Fortunately, websites like Tripadvisor allow people to rank the best restaurants by rating. This means that there is often something new to try as a restaurant moves up the ranks and generates new hype.

One such place is Baba Ganoush Kitchen. The hidden restaurant on St Nicholas Road in St Pauls is rated the second best restaurant in Bristol on Tripadvisor because customers love the food, the portions and the friendliness of the owners. In fact, out of 368 reviews, 363 were rated five out of five stars and received the Travelers Choice Award in 2023.

So many reviewers said it was their favorite place to eat in Bristol, so for lunch I went to Baba Ganoush and decided to try the falafel wrap. For all the positive reviews and glowing reputation, I expected great things.

Despite being a stone’s throw from the M32, it’s quite surprising how little you hear about the traffic. The exterior colors are fascinating and make the restaurant stand out, a good start so far.

The owners at Baba Ganoush are so friendly and welcomed me right away, at the time it felt like a community space rather than just another restaurant. It was refreshing and just makes you feel more relaxed and willing to spend time there.

The Lebanese restaurant allows both takeout and sit-in, but I decided to stick around and try the Jerusalem Falafel Wrap, which was the best-selling item. It comes in two sizes so I went for the large pack which cost £7.

I loved the cozy atmosphere of Baba Ganoush, you can see the wraps and salads being created in front of you and you are never too far away from someone else. I was so distracted by my surroundings that my pack felt like it was coming off in an instant.

I can’t begin to describe my shock when I see how big the wrap was, over a foot long and filled to the brim with falafel, salad and pickles. Knowing it was my first time having a wrap there, the staff kindly told me, “Always unwrap from the top, never remove the wrap from the bottom as you’ll end up with a mess, not a wrap.”

It was incredible, the falafels provided the perfect amount of heat with a hint of spice. The salad, which includes tomatoes, lettuce and pickles, was so refreshing and perfectly balanced.

Everything was nicely seasoned and the package size was generous. There was so much food and so much to enjoy, you wouldn’t have thought anything could be so healthy and taste so good.

Normally when you are presented with a large portion of something, especially a package, you can get tired and start to feel full, it is often wasted. With this coating, however, every bite came out with so much flavor that you just can’t stop.

After eating the almost half a meter wrapper, I was amazed that the pack only cost £7. I think without a doubt Baba Ganoush may be the best value for money in Bristol.

For me personally, the Jerusalem Falafel Wrap was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten and I will definitely be back. Not only does Baba Ganoush offer value for money, it is an experience that everyone must try at least once.
