The spectacular Strawberry Moon is on display across the UK tonight and Coventry is one of the best places to see it

A spectacular Strawberry Moon will be on display in the sky tonight and according to experts, Coventry is one of the best places to see it. A Strawberry Moon is the first full moon in June and is named after the wild strawberries that burst this time of year.

Bokun, a provider of travel booking management software, took a look at NASA data to name the top places to see in the UK.

And according to their research, Coventry is in the top five, after Edinburgh, Newcastle upon Tyne and Bradford.

The list is based on factors such as the longest visibility distance outside cities and the least expected cloud cover during a full moon.

But anyone who wants to see it will have to stay up late. The Strawberry Moon is expected to shine brightest at 1.08am tomorrow morning (Saturday 22nd).

If you miss it, there will be a chance to see the Blue Moon on August 19 and a partial lunar eclipse on September 18. Daniel Hasselbach, UK Country Manager Bókun , said: “We’ve seen increased interest in the cosmos, with over 2.28 million people keen to find out ‘When is the next Full Moon?’ This is probably attributed to the fact that it is becoming increasingly difficult to witness these astrological wonders from home due to an average 10% increase in light pollution.”
