I like West Brom to name promotion after watching them with the Leicester City woman

Former Liverpool defender and pundit Mark Lawrenson has thrown his support behind West Bromwich Albion to fight for the play-offs and return to the Premier League after a three-year absence, after recently seeing them “thank ” Leicester City, despite falling to defeat against him. championship title winners.

Albion were excellent at the King Power Stadium last month when they suffered a 2-1 defeat and Lawrenson paid attention to Albion’s performance on the day. Based on the levels they produced on the day, regardless of the result, he likes the Baggies to upset the odds and emerge victorious from the play-offs.

They welcome Southampton to The Hawthorns on Sunday for the first leg of their semi-final, minutes after Norwich City and Leeds United do battle at Carrow Road. Albion, who finished the regular season in fifth place, are outside the four teams competing with the bookies, but Lawrenson is quite taken with what he has seen of them.

“The best team of the four in the play-offs is West Brom,” Lawrenson told Paddy Power. “They went to Leicester and absolutely took them, so I’m going for a real outsider and I think West Brom could go through (promotion). If they can replicate the form they were in against Leicester, they will be very hard to beat.

“Southampton beat Preston 3-0 and then were beaten 3-1 the following week, but this is the Championship. I always thought Ipswich would go up because they have a bit of everything. They’ve had a bad run that hasn’t been many games and they’ve had games in hand and people didn’t think they were going to win them, but they’re just a decent team.

“Leeds should be promoted to the play-offs but it worries me. Going forward they are excellent, they play with pace and create a lot of chances, but in a game where you have to be a bit serious for 20 minutes and just stop the opposition, they can’t seem to put the brakes on and that worries me little bit.”
