£2.5m signing Daniel Farke must now start for Leeds United’s play-off trip to Norwich City

Daniel Farke faces Leeds United’s biggest ever squad for Sunday’s play-off clash at Norwich City.

The Whites will effectively have a second chance to win promotion back to the Premier League after missing out on a place in the top two with Leicester City and Ipswich Town.

Having lost four of their last six games of the regular season, Farke has spent the last week thinking about ways he can get his Leeds side back on track.

Although the OPTA supercomputer has Leeds as favorites to go all the way, they will need to make Championship history if they are to do so.

But there are plenty of people backing Leeds to get the job done, including Blackburn Rovers’ Sammie Szmodics as well as former boss Sam Allardyce.

Farke must make selection call on Connor Roberts against Norwich

Farke shared an injury update in his Friday press conference with Dan James, the only one of the four players who missed the final day with a chance to return.

Along with Pascal Struijk and Stuart Dallas, Patrick Bamford was ruled out for both legs, which is a big blow for Leeds. Their winning percentage this season is over 20 percent higher than he started.

However, there is one player who looks ready to start after his recent injury and that is Connor Roberts, after returning from the bench against Southampton.

Roberts has struggled with injuries since the international break in March, missing half of Leeds’ last eight games.

Sam Byram is the man given the right-back position in the last three, but with a full week of training under his belt, Roberts needs £2.5m.

Roberts has the experience of winning promotion before having done so with Burnley just a year ago and, at 28, is one of the senior members of the squad. He is also the type of character ready to be a leader on the field.

With one goal and one assist in 307 minutes of football since joining Leeds in January, Roberts is likely to offer more in the future. He is exactly the type of player who needs to step up for Farke’s men to win promotion.

Despite a difficult end to the season, Farke is unlikely to make wholesale changes to the starting line-up for the play-offs.

Roberts is a player that should come in, but other than that, it could be more of the same that started the game against the Saints.

Glen Kamara looks to add more control than Archie Gray to the midfield and therefore deserves to keep his place, while Joel Piroe looks set to continue deputizing for the injured Bamford.
