Match report as Wigan Warriors scored six tries to beat London Broncos 36-0 at the brick-built Community Stadium.

Jack Farrimond’s quick-fire debut brace was added to with tries from Liam Marshall and Abbas Miski to give the Warriors a 24-0 half-time lead.

Jack Wardle scored twice in quick succession before the hour mark as Warriors returned to action at home with a win.

Wigan quickly went ahead as Jack Farrimond marked his home debut with his first senior try for the club. An inside ball from Bevan French found Farrimond who sold a dummy to cut inside and weave his way over the try line to make it 6-0 of his own.

A few minutes later, Wigan threatened again when a big probing ball at the last minute saw two London players trying to catch the ball and flick it forward to give Wigan a scrum 10m out. The resulting play of saw a ball sent to Abbas Miski, but the winger was just seen to touch down by Miloudi for the change of possession.

After 13 minutes, Jack Farrimond was in again for his and Wigan’s second of the evening. A great break down the right by Junior Nsemba allowed the second baseman to send Farrimond flying onto a ball and in under the sticks. Farrimond converted his own score once more to make it 12-0.

Liam Marshall added a third on 22 minutes when a pass from Bevan French to Liam Marshall saw the prolific winger break down the left flank. Farrimond converted on the touchline, Wigan scored 18-0.

London thought they had responded through Ugo Tison in the 27th minute when the substitute darted for the goal line, but a great tackle from Zach Eckersley saw the ball come free before it was blocked as the video referee flagged the effort and remained. 18-0.

Abbas Miski capped off the first half by scoring in the 36th minute, while a scrum for the Warriors from close range saw quick hands from Hampshire to French to Miski to score on the right wing. Farrimond managed the touchline conversion as Wigan made it 24-0 at the break.

London were reduced to 12 men when Emmanuel Waine was booked for a tackle that forced Kruise Leeming off in the 45th minute. The Warriors almost extended their lead minutes later when Marshall sped down the wing, but however, his inbounds pass was intercepted by Lee Kershaw.

The Warriors extended their lead in the 50th minute when Farrimond went through a gap in the defensive line before passing to Wardle in his lift who raced on to score. Farrimond continued his perfect record off the tee to make it 30-0.

Some fantastic defensive work from the Warriors forced a Broncos error, from which Wigan scored a sixth try when Wardle finished a direct move from scrum. Farrimond added the extras to make it 36-0 before the hour mark.

The Warriors continued to apply pressure to the London defense as an unfortunate handling error denied Farrimond a hat-trick, before Miski saw a second try ruled out for a forward step in the 63rd minute.

Despite London’s efforts to break down the Warriors’ defensive line, which saw a try cleared in the closing minutes, the visitors were unable to score a point as Wigan recorded a nil win before the international break.
